Teacher Resume Example

A teaching resume is screened for fit against a specific vacancy: subject, grade band, board or curriculum, and certification. A generalist resume that does not name those gets filtered before anyone reads about your pedagogy.

What a teacher resume has to prove

Beyond the fit criteria, what distinguishes candidates is evidence of student outcomes and of work beyond the classroom — curriculum you wrote, colleagues you mentored, programmes you started.

Mistakes that sink teacher resumes

  • Not naming subject, grade band and curriculum in the first two lines — these are the filter.
  • Describing philosophy instead of results. Save the philosophy for the cover letter.
  • Omitting class sizes and cohort numbers, which set the scale of the work.
  • Leaving certification and registration details off, or without their status and date.
